As if today isn’t seeing enough moments of fascination the length and breadth of the country, we have another to add to that list. The latest iteration of our ground-breaking Abstrakt series of beers launches online and across our network of UK BrewDog Bars. Since the last release came of age by marking the twenty-first outing of the series with a new look, we are ready with the follow-up. And Abstrakt AB:22 truly lives up to the decadence of its forerunners.

This beer began life midway through 2015 when our brewing team created an imperial stout and loaded it with coffee and cacao. Once conditioned in our brewhouse it was immediately locked away inside Speyside whisky casks, and there it has remained for over two years. More than seven hundred days of enforced darkness, drawing out the magic of the wood, have resulted in one of our most decadent and powerful imperial stouts we have ever created.

AB:22 is a force of flavour and intensity; the two-year sojourn in Speyside has added layers of smoky molasses, toasted coconut and vanilla pods to the chocolate and coffee elements from the beer. Every sip rewards you with a different flavour from those before; chocolate ganache, espresso martini, fudge sundae. It truly is a benchmark for the incredible depths that barrel-ageing can convey.
