An Uber Crafty Christmas

An Uber Crafty Christmas

Food is ace, we love it.

Good news - things get even better at Christmas time, especially when Martin’s mum spends an entire week in the kitchen cultivating a meal fit for the whole BrewDog family. Over the years we’ve become pretty adept at pairing beers to the annual festive feeding frenzy; right from waking up on Christmas morn to last thing at night when we’ve finally succumbed to wearing suspect yuletide knitwear.

So gather round, and be merry with this ultimate menu designed to put the craft in Christmas…

First thing’s first

If you’ve woken up under the haze of what happened on Christmas Eve, you are most definitely in need of a Libertine Black AleWith luscious dark malts and a pick-me-up hit of Simcoe hops, this black beauty perfectly replaces your morning cuppa coffee.

For a festive brekkie, pair Libertine Black Ale with smoked Scottish salmon, scrambled eggs, wholemeal toast and a quiet look of disdain as small children – some of whom could quite possibly be feral - run laps around the living room.brewpix_libertine_620

To get you in the mood

Nobody likes a Bah Humbug so with Christmas day in full swing it’s time to crank things up and get into the festive spirit. Pick up a bottle of Christmas Paradox 2012 and sit down in front of the fire.

Our signature imperial stout has been aged in sweet, spicy rum casks for 12 months just for your pleasure. Take a minute to lose yourself in the malty goodness of a Christmas Paradox and you’ll soon be prepared to face the rest of the day.

For those with their eye on the canapés, opt for something involving blue cheese, cream or red meat as a sidekick to those epic flavours.

Turkey time

Bird is the word, and 5am Saint is the beer. This hoppy little number goes great when teamed up with the traditional white meat and bread sauce combo. At 5% ABV, 5am is a grand introduction to all things BrewDog so share the love and cast aside any worries about granddad getting rowdy.

You could even go one step further and create a beery twist on the humble sprout by creating a dish of braised brussels with diced bacon, chopped onion, garlic and a splash of Punk IPA. Who said eating your greens wasn't fun?

 5am1_620With Christmas pudding

When Christmas pud’s on the menu you need a super balanced beer to match.

Cue Dogma, a scotch ale brewed with, count ‘em, ten different types of malt and Scottish heather honey.

For those who want to give the Christmas pud a miss, why not try Dogma with chocolate chip shortbread and ice cream, sticky toffee pudding or your own homemade scotch ale crème brulee instead?

 christmasbowman_620When it’s all over

Everyone’s gone to bed and you’re left on your own in a darkened room with only the wrapping paper for company. There’s only one thing for it - Tactical Nuclear Penguin.

At 32% ABV and after a day full of beer, turkey and Uncle John’s unbearable one liners, we don’t recommend drinking too much of this sub-zero stout.

One thing’s guaranteed though – a few mouthfuls of this oak aged elixir as a night cap and you’ll no longer be concerned with 2014 and the evils it’s sure to bring.

Order your crafty goodies by midday this Wednesday 11th December for international orders, and midday on the 18th of December for mainland UK orders, and we'll guarantee that you'll get your beers in time for Christmas day. The warehouse and helpdesk will be closed from midday 23rd December until 9am Monday 6th January.  We've got some pretty spectacular guest beers in stock at the moment too, so be sure to check out what's available right here.

Hey Jah, unfortunately the thought of Uncle Joes one-liners was too much for people to bear, and we sold out of TNP almost instantly. We didnt realise he would have such an effect! We suggest Tokyo* as an alternative.

Ive already got my bottle of Christmas Paradox cooling nicely in my garage. But .... No mention of Tokyo* !! It makes the perfect replacement for Port, to drink with your Stilton and bicuits (optional). And it was on draught at Brewdog Nottingham last weekend. Again !!

Libertine instead of a cup of coffee eh? That could get pretty dangerous! I suppose Christmas only comes once a year... ;)
