BREWDOG AUSTRALIA – THE COLLABORATION SERIES

BREWDOG AUSTRALIA – THE COLLABORATION SERIES

A month has passed since we announced BrewDog Australia is hiring a Head of Production to take the helm on all brewing operations down under, and the response has been incredible. It’s going to be a tough task to narrow down the list of talented and passionate brewers to a single individual who will be the heart of our Australian brewery. If you think you have what it takes to oversee our Brisbane brewhouse, be sure and apply soon!

In the meantime, we have more exciting news from Australia. We’ve teamed up with the Sydney and Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival to collaborate with five of Australia’s leading craft beer breweries. In three short years the Adelaide based festival has become the second largest Beer Festival in the nation and this July they're rolling out the winning formula in Sydney as well. Tickets for both events will be released in the next week.

There's been a late change as to which of our crewmembers is heading over - sadly Jason Pond cannot make it any more and is gutted to miss out on the collaboration breweries. But fear not! Packing his bags as we speak is our Germanic wonder Franz Horak; leader of our Ellon brewhouse and commissioning brewer at BrewDog Columbus. He's also our longest standing brewer having been on the good ship BrewDog for eight years!

Speaking of ships, Franz is getting ready to ship out to Australia to crank things up on a series of kick-ass Aussie collaborations, and the five beers will be released at the Beer & BBQ Festivals in Sydney on the 29 June – 1 July, and in Adelaide on the 6-8 July. The Australian breweries Franz will be hooking up with are:-

·        Green Beacon Brewing Co (Brisbane)

·        Batch Brewing Company (Sydney)

·        Capital Brewing Co (Canberra)

·        Hop Nation (Melbourne)

·        Mismatch Brewing Co (Adelaide)

These inventive breweries are leading the charge of the Australian craft beer industry, breaking down the walls of industrial beer as they go. Franz and head brewers from the five are already in cahoots, working hard on five very different but equally mind-blowing recipes. Ingredients such as jalapeños, raspberries, pineapple, chocolate and hazelnuts have all been thrown in the ring (to mention but a few), and of course the use of local ingredients.

To keep up with the latest on these collaborations – and all the other BrewDog Australia news – check out the channels on FacebookInstagram and Twitter. Bookmark those sites to discover what each of the final five beers are and also for live updates from the brewdays as Franz mashes in. We’ll also be hosting a Tap Takeover and Meet the Brewer in Brisbane while he’s here – more info on this in the next week. Keep ‘em peeled!

And if there are any other Aussie breweries we should be hooking up with for a collab, let us know in the comments below!

Hey guys, I work at a brewery in the Barossa Valley in South Australia, called Barossa Valley Brewing Company. We battle the wineries in this famous region daily for beverage supremecy. We have some pretty awesome brews on, including our "I can't believe it's not Bacon - smoked Red ale" and our Lemon Myrtle infused Aussie Pale Ale.
If you guys get a chance come down and check us out.

I’ve been in WA for 6 months now and in that time I have sampled many Aussie brews. Stand outs for me are:-
Colonial brewing (small ale is fantastic)
Pirate life
Little creatures
La sirenè (farmhouse sours)

It would be great to see a collaboration with any of these guys.
Good luck, I look forward to the results.
