A few years ago, thumbing through the craft beer dictionary to the entry on IPA would leave you reading about California, Pacific hops and mouth-shredding bitterness. Yet recently a hip hop-style beef has arisen, with the upstarts from New England re-writing the book on what US-inspired India Pale Ale should be about. And our position? Either is cool. Both are equally awesome.

To prove that, our latest West Coast IPA is out now. Welcome Jet Trash.

Following on the heels of Eight-Bit, an eight-way, eight-hopped New England IPA our needle has flipped to the other coastline of the US for a spot of classic American muscle. Hop-forward beers from the West Coast are ones we return to time and again; the rise of subtly bitter stone fruit-led IPA is amazing – but every now and again you need to raid the hop store and roll up the sleeves.

Our latest small-batch wild card release Jet Trash has a huge hop profile, perfect for the arrival of summer. Taking point is the cone that made Sierra Nevada a household name – Cascade. It sits front and centre as the focal point of a colossal dry-hopping programme that also involves a quintet of high alpha sluggers – Centennial, Simcoe, Chinook, Citra and Mosaic.

But Jet Trash is no Jack Hammer. It may share the same 7.5% ABV but comes in at 65IBU instead of breaking the calibrator. We added Munich, Cara Red and Dextrin malt to give a broader malt presence than we have in our other West Coast IPAs. So Jet Trash carries fresh grassy and zesty grapefruit aromas into a tropical flavour, but also introduces a toasty, balanced malt bill.

In summary, Jet Trash is awesome, and is everything we love about classic West Coast IPA. It will be pouring from the taps of our UK Bars from 6pm tonight, Thursday 7th June. If you are a subscriber to Fanzine then you may well have tried our trial version recently – be sure and check out our online beer club for more unique beers that may well make it into our line-up!
