With dozens of breweries, not to mention hundreds of amazing pubs and bars, London is undoubtedly one of the best drinking destinations in Europe. It is also home to a huge number of festivals, serving to collate the many events that bring beer and people closer together. This coming week, it's the second annual running of a festival that stretches across the entire reaches of the capital – and BrewDog is proudly playing a central role once again. It’s time for London Beer City.

From Friday 7th to Sunday 16th of August, dozens of tastings, takeovers and talks will be held across the length and breadth of London, involving breweries and bars aplenty. Our bar teams in the city have been working their socks off to organise events, particularly Dean and his steadfast crew at BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush, which has been named one of the two official Beer City hubs (the other being the awesome Mother Kelly’s in Bethnal Green).

Here’s a run-down of the events that we are hosting over the next few days:-

Friday 7th August

Opening Party – BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush

London Beer City kicks off this Friday with a huge welcome party, which Dean and the team are hosting at Shepherd’s Bush. Alongside a typically epic taplist, special guests will be the team from Fourpure Brewery, as they will be talking through the Galaxy-hopped London City Summer Ale. Plus, Beer Bingo!

Saturday 8th August (1pm to 3pm)

The Elements of Beer – BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush £25

The next afternoon, a multi-course beer lunch based around the four main ingredients; water, malt, hops and yeast. Each course will have a beer and food match to highlight that specific ingredient, designed to be as innovative, yet accommodating, as possible. Tickets are available here.

Sunday 9th August (3pm to 5pm)

A Beer Sensory Experience with Matt Curtis – BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush £20

Twenty-four hours after that finishes, there’s a chance to reconvene for a sensory experience that ramps things up a level. Acclaimed beer writer Matt Curtis (one quarter of our Peach Therapy brew team) will be hosting a discussion of how sight influences the perception of beer, what music pairs with imperial stout – and much more. Tickets are available here.

Monday 10th August (12pm to 12am)

European Tap Takeover – BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush

The Shepherd’s Bush hub takes on a continental feel on Monday, as our team hosts an evening dedicated to a multitude of beers from across Europe. Head along and try brews from Holland, Italy and Spain, as well as hearing in person from brewers representing Birra Del Borgo, Birrificio Italiano and Jopen.

Tuesday 11th August (5pm to 12am)

GBBF Trade After-Party – BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush

For those attending the trade session at GBBF, we are hosting an unofficial after-party. BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush is only a mile away, and if you fancy winding afterwards for a few more beers, we’ll have an incredible array on offer, just for you.

Wednesday 12th August (7:30pm)

Beyond IPA with Ray Daniels – BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush £18

One of the most respected authorities in the world of craft beer is the founder of the Cicerone Beer Certification programme, Ray Daniels. During London Beer City, he is in town and will be exploring some of the many beer styles available in the craft-beer market beyond its most popular style, IPA. Tickets are available here.

Thursday 13th August (7:30pm to 10pm)

Knowing Me, Knowing Brew – BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush £5

Ray is known for testing people’s beer knowledge, but we wonder how he’d do on Thursday at our interactive beer quiz! With prizes available for first and second place, if you know your beers, enter and prove it! One ticket (£5) per team of up to five members. Tickets are available here.

Friday 14th August (6pm to 12am)

BrewDog Clapham Junction’s 1st Birthday Party – BrewDog Clapham Junction

Our south-west London outpost officially opened during last year’s LBC, so it’s fitting that Clapham Junction is hosting its first birthday celebration on the Friday of this year’s festival. The theme? Best of British – a North v South takeover. Expect beers from Magic Rock, Ilkley, Siren, Wild Beer Co and many more...

Saturday 15th August (2pm)

What Are You Drinking? with Pete Brown – BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush £18

Finally, on Saturday you can join twice beer-writer-of-the-year Pete Brown as he takes a journey into the ingredients that go into making up our favourite drink. As well as hearing his stories about each, you can decide which ones you'd like to see in his forthcoming book of the same name. Plus, a flight of beers that highlight the properties of each ingredient. Tickets are available here.

There are lots of fantastic beery events in the city over the next week – be sure and head down to one of our London bars and say hello!
