Our Amplified range is brewing writ large; beers of high-intensity with everything dialled up to eleven. Today we are psyched to add a newcomer to those ranks. The brainchild of our Head of Production Jason Pond, a man with brewing in his blood and hops coursing through those veins. This beer is a powerhouse of resin, pine and gloriously dank American hops – a triumph of a West Coast IPA and the perfect way in which to give your palate a kick-start.

Native Son is out now.

In a rather neat piece of symmetry, Jason joined us exactly a year ago next week. Once he was on the ground in Aberdeenshire he was tasked with brewing a beer that he would want to drink above all others. To showcase everything he loved about craft beer into something that would get us talking. Being a proud son of Colorado, he put together a hop-heavy American IPA. Of course. That beer blew us away and we did the only thing we could – add it to our regular lineup.

Native Son is a rip-roaring 8.5% ABV India Pale Ale. It has no delusions of grandeur, nothing to fall back on aside from a thundering hopload that is as American as the 4thof July. Columbus, Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic combine for 70 IBUs and massive aromas of citrus peel, pine dust, juicy fruit and pungent bitter resin. In short, it’s everything you would want from an American IPA and more. Balanced, clean and utterly spellbinding.

AB:25

Also launching today is a beer that is almost at polar opposites from Native Son, and yet one which takes inspiration (and a hefty chunk of flavour) from the same country. Our latest Abstrakt release is a 13.3% bourbon barrel-aged barley wine. Brewed with six different malts, including wheat and oats, this is a super-smooth sipper that has benefitted from six whole months sequestered inside first-fill American oak previously used to age bourbon whiskey.

AB:25 is quite simply one of the biggest barley wines we have ever brewed (which if you know BrewDog, is saying something). Flavours of caramel, toasted oak, toffee, coconut, vanilla, cocoa, mocha and even toasted marshmallow the latest Abstrakt is full-bodied, warming and full of that enormously welcoming bourbon heat. In short, it’s the perfect beer to enjoy whilst turning your back on winter and getting ready for the change of the seasons.

You can buy Native Son in 330ml cans online here and our latest Abstrakt release AB:25 online here. Both beers will also be launching on draft across our network of UK BrewDog bars from 6pm tonight, Thursday 15th February. Be sure and leave us your thoughts in the comments below!

I agree with Maxwell the first release was brilliant. I love the soupy NEIPAs as much as the next guy but you need to have the West Coast dank bitterness to offset every now and again. If you made Hazy Jane a headliner that would be the perfect lineup imo

Have been drinking it at Clapham. It’s as smooth as hell and very drinkable.
