PROTOTYPE CHALLENGE UPDATE!

PROTOTYPE CHALLENGE UPDATE!

**Update - the Prototype Challenge poll is now closed - thanks for the votes!**

In case you missed it last month, we are currently in the grip of the 2017 BrewDog Prototype Challenge. With almost a thousand votes cast, the competition is hotting up. As there are two days until the poll closes we figured this was a great chance to remind you all and get a few more ballots in play. Also, if you have voted and picked a favourite – you can now buy your pick from our online shop as individual bottles!

So let’s take a final rundown at the 2017 Prototype Challenge contestants. Which will emerge victorious and go into regular production?

TANGERINE SESSION IPA

This beer is for you if…

…you love citrus-forward pale ales that bring a zesty, refreshing edge to the mix. At 4.5% ABV it won’t leave you reeling but will hit your tastebuds with seven different hops and added tangerine. This is a summer-styled juice-bomb that brings the aroma and flavour from the start to the finish. It is perfect for anyone whose first beer of the night is a pale ale, IPA or golden ale and needs a kick of refreshment to begin their beery discoveries.

BLACK RYE IPA

This beer is for you if…

…you need a kick of dark, roasty body in your beer to reflect the change into the greys of autumn. With 70 IBU it has a long-lasting bitterness that adds a second pillar to the roastiness from the dark malts and wheat. The spiciness of rye and the piney, resinous hops are in perfect balance. It is an ideal beer for lovers of stouts, porters, black IPA and unearthing things that aren’t necessarily what they seem at first glance.

DOUBLE IPA

This beer is for you if…

…you have a Citra air freshener at home and routinely turn away from new beers thinking they need more hops. This is a lupulin-lovers salvation in liquid form, enormously dry-hopped with five different American varietals on top of a dry baseline from a minimal malt bill. At 8.5% ABV this beer is the supreme selection for anybody who gravitates towards the big-hitters, whether it is mid-July or there’s snow on the ground outside.

The Prototype Challenge is our chance to road-test three very different beers and for you to vote on which you’d like to see go into regular production. It’s that simple. The public vote takes place across our social media channels but the best way is to make your mark on the poll at the end of this post. Previous Challenges have resulted in BrewDog staples such as Jet Black Heart, Jack Hammer, Cocoa Psycho, Vagabond Pale Ale and Hop Fiction. Which will be 2017’s version?

You have until the 14th of September to vote!

Double IPA, with the Black Rya IPA a close second.

A tough choice as they're all great but I'd pick the Black Rye IPA. I wish they could all stay though, except maybe the DIPA as I'd rather see more of previous ones.

The double is amazing but for a nice chill out drink tangerine pips it (no pips please)

How do we cast votes? Black IPA is undeniably the best. It somehow captured a Capsaicin bite and it's just such a perfectly rounded, mature ale.

Tangerine Session IPA is the one!

I'd like to see another batch of Albino Squid Assassin but in the meantime black rye ipa would be a good compensation ;)
Harry 13.09.2017 @ 10:22am
Tangerine dream for me!
Jon 13.09.2017 @ 10:22am
