BEATNIK BATTLE ROYALE – VOTING BEGINS

Last month we told our legion of Equity Punks about a kick-ass new change to the annual Beatnik Brewing Collective brewday. In the past we’d suggested styles and had our shareholders vote on them – but not anymore. For 2018’s Beatnik Beer – which for the first time will be available to all when released – we asked our Equity Punks to suggest actual, specific beer styles to vote on.

The response was astonishing. We had over 500 ideas.

Yes, the voting process begins today and due to the overwhelming number of beery ideas we immediately doubled the number of styles in the final shortlist. Now our card-carrying shareholders can select a winner from 32 different beers, pitched head to head against one another in a tournament from this morning. The final two will then go beero a beero to determine what will be brewed and released as the 2018 Beatnik Brew.

Our Head of Production Jason Pond and Master Cicerone Rob Mackay had the onerous task of whittling 500 beers into a final 32 – with such ideas as ‘King Rib Stout’ falling by the wayside. Sure, it would be unbelievably awesome, but meat in the brew tanks might not be the best idea. The 32 do include such standouts as a Smoked Honey Märzen and a Praline Chocolate Porter though, so whichever beer makes it to the final will be one worthy of our shareholders!

Our EFP team will post two voting options per day every weekday from now on; giving our shareholders a quartet of potential beers to trim by half each day. Such responsibility. We are also working on a plan to have the final few narrowed down to a winner in a Beatnik Live Final at our #PunkAGM2018, set to take place at the AECC in Aberdeen on Saturday April 7th.

Talking of dates, we can also now reveal the day when our army of Equity Punks are invited up to Ellon to check out our HQ and enjoy some killer beer and food as part of the Beatnik Brewing Collective brewday – that particular event will be on Saturday 30th June. Right in the middle of the Aberdeenshire summer. Equity Punks, save the date!
