Evil Twin in Aberdeen

Last week we played host to our friend and gypsy brewer, Jeppe from Evil Twin. Based out of Denmark and New York, Jeppe took the redeye from American to join us for two days of brewing, beer and awesome food.

On Friday he got his hands dirty brewing a brand spanking new collaboration beer packed full of blueberries. The next release in our “Hello, My Name Is…” series Hello, My Name is Sonja is named after Jeppe’s wonderful mum. Sonja is currently fermenting away in our tanks, and we can’t wait to send her home to Denmark.

After cleaning up, Jeppe hosted an epic five course beer dinner at Musa, sharing a few candid stories about the early days of Evil Twin and an insight into each of the beers showcased.

femmefatale_musa_ratio_620.Pairing of the night went to the Evil Twin Femme Fatale Blanc matched with Carpaccio of venison with capers, lemon and chilli vinaigrette. Fermented with 100% Brett, the beer's slight tartness accentuated the venison and capers, and the hop profile livened up the chilli in the vinaigrette.

brewdog_board_ratio_620On Saturday BrewDog Aberdeen loaded its draft lines and beer fridges with some of Jeppe's awesome creations for a tap takeover and Meet the Brewer event. Jeppe spent his evening hanging out with our Aberdeen customers, speaking about his beers, and enjoying some amazing beer.

aberdeenbusy_620We’d like to say a big thank you to Jeppe for crossing the pond to brew a beer with us. We'll see you again soon, Jeppe, and next time bring your mum!

I had Disco Beer the other day. One big caramel-y DIPA. Well brewed, sir.

Big fan of the Femme Fatale - and that pairing sounds amazing. What else was on the menu?
