FESTIVAL SEASON

FESTIVAL SEASON

For the beer fan, festivals are a fantastic opportunity to make new discoveries. One of the joys of attending is the chance to unearth specific beers – or entire breweries – that had never crossed your radar previously, all enjoyed in the company of likeminded people in amazing locations. And that spirit holds just as true for those of us who make the beer. Here at BrewDog we love attending beer festivals as they give us the truest possible showcase for our craft beer – the instant feedback we get from those who visit our bar to discover what we are about.

And over the course of this month, we have some amazing events coming up.

From our point of view, the chance to meet beer fans on a one to one basis is the driving force behind attending these festivals – such as last week when we rocked out at Paris Beer Week. We held court in a tap takeover at the fantastic newcomer bar Hoppy Corner before rounding off the week in style at the Grand Finale with 45 other craft breweries. The response was incredible – particularly to our brand new Blitz Rasperry!

So where are we headed next?

Well, this week we are pouring our beers at one of the most famous festivals in Europe – the Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Now in its fifth year, CBC attracts a huge number of people and we are bringing the beers to match. On Friday and Saturday we will be serving beers including (but in no way limited to) bourbon barrel-aged Hinterland, a passion fruit sour and our celebratory anniversary imperial stout Dog E.

For us, the Copenhagen Beer Celebration actually begins on Wednesday 11th May, with a tap takeover at the legendary Mikkeller & Friends. We are getting down in a Battle of Britain with Beavertown, Brew By Numbers and the Kernel breweries, going head to head with ten taps apiece. If you’re at a loose end in the Danish capital tomorrow night, how does the prospect of forty taps of British craft beer grab you?

Speaking of Blighty, back in the UK the week after CBC we are really excited to be serving our beer at the Great Escape independent music festival in Brighton. Truck Norris himself will be motoring down to the south coast, and will be dispensing beer to all-comers on Jubilee Street from the 19th to the 21st of May – and those sporting TGE wristbands can claim epic discounts at BrewDog Brighton for the duration of the festival!

Also this month we are hooking up with an exhibition that is right up our street. 2016 is the 40th anniversary of the cultural movement that became a phenomenon, and inspired an attitude that we embrace every day. Punk is 40, and we are honoured to be a part of the British Library’s 40th Anniversary of Punk exhibition, with Punk IPA being served at a series of events over the span of the showcase. What could be more punk than drinking a Punk at a retrospective of punk in…a library?

Looking further ahead, we will be serving our super-fresh craft beer at events in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Liverpool and Bristol (with more besides). It’s fantastic to be able to meet so many enthusiastic beer fans at festivals, and to give them a chance to experience what we do best. If you have a lowdown on any kick-ass events you think we should be at – leave us a comment below or email our team of events superstars at events [at] brewdog [dot] com. Cheers!

Fellas, you just missed the Isle of Man beer festival. The Isle of Man has essentially two major supermarket chains - Tesco (literally, one Tesco) and Shoprite, and the volume of Brewdog on the shelves of both has visibly tripled over the last year or so. Bottles of punk have started cropping up in a few pub too. I know you have a few fans over here, and it'd be great to see you representing in one way or another.

Also, there are a few potential sites in the capital, Douglas. "Brewdog Isle of Man" or "Brewdog Douglas" doesn't have quite the same ring as "London", "Stockholm" etc, but I'm sure you could come up with something (Brewdog Island? Brewdog Offshore?). With the island's heritage, I think it would be rude to not have a Viking longboat in the bar.

Seriously though, the Isle of Man has a busy nightlife / pub scene, but when it comes to trendy/cool bars (I'm thinking things like 99 Hanover Street and Café Voltaire in Edinburgh), its absolutely vacant - massive gap in the market for the right business... build the pipeline lads, there's an ocean of oil under your feet!

Hit me up if you fancy a natter.
