NEW BREW THURSDAY!

NEW BREW THURSDAY!

As we roll into the months of spring, and the days become that little bit lighter and more bearable, thoughts invariably turn to beers pale and hoppy. But we’re not totally in the clear; the weather still has the capacity to shock with a sudden blustery front or cold snap. Malt-forward beers can’t be consigned to the ageing cupboard just yet. As such, it’s the perfect time to release two uplifting BrewDog stouts. One is hugely hopped to give that clock-forward lift – and the other aged on wood that yields an unexpected delight of citrus and orange oil.

So, here’s what’s going to light up your personal beer board (it does have lights, right?) from today!

Stereo Wolf Stout

This new wolf in wolf’s clothing currently also sports the white fleece of our Prototype label – but don’t mistake that colouration for vulnerability. Beers as indomitable as Stereo Wolf will stop at nothing to get to the head of the pack; our latest release is a beer charged with attitude directly taken from the landscape of the Pacific Northwest – boldly wearing a pelt of high-alpha Galena, and earthy UK Bramling Cross hops.

Stereo Wolf Stout stands at 5.2% and features an exacting blend of five different malts. Black as a forest night, it has a reverberating aroma of deep roast, blackberry, blackcurrant and spices. It is dry, hunting with a long ashen bitterness, finishing with a sudden flash of citrus and dark fruit at the moment of truth. This is a beer born above the treeline; in the open. It is coldblooded, merciless and unflinching.

Paradox Compass Box

The arrival of a new Paradox invariably leads to a few of those drinking-board lights shorting out; our ground-breaking imperial stout series packs some serious voltage – and the latest iteration released today is no exception. The silkily persuasive Paradox has been taking on some amazing character from the Great King Street whisky casks of independent whiskymakers Compass Box. The expressions these barrels have given to our thunderous imperial stout are nothing short of amazing.

Even Audio Wolves padding silently with all senses attuned would have trouble deciphering its layers of complexity. The bold darkness of our beer has melded perfectly with the flavours from the wood, producing a 15% abv packleader that signals the anticipated brandy, coffee and chocolate notes, but then also – unseen – strikes with an edge of fragrantly zesty orange, old-fashioned toffee mallow, and liquorice.

The result is a beer that is upfront but entirely balanced and complementary. With a warming lick of alcohol on the finish, Paradox Compass Box is a truly fascinating beer; marrying a lightness of touch from the citrus oil flavours with the deeply resonant imperial stout.

Aside from being available now in our online shop, both of these beers will be hitting the taps of our UK bars from 3pm this Saturday! And as a special extra, each bar will also have a bottle of Compass Box’s Great King Street whisky, so you can sample them side by side and see how the flavours of one have shaped the other.

Cheers!
