When BrewDog was founded in 2007, it’s safe to say nobody involved at the time could ever have dreamed that it would lead to events like our fifth-annual Punk AGM (although to be fair, one-third of our initial staff only really ever dreamed of chasing rabbits). Yet on Saturday there we were at Aberdeen’s AECC, pouring the contents of 526 kegs into 30,000 pint glasses for over 6,000 of our awesome Equity for Punks shareholders at the UK’s largest Annual General Meeting.

Over the course of the day, we shared with our assembled army of EFP’s just how much their investment has made a difference to our company – as well as letting them know exactly what we have up our collective sleeves for the year ahead. After the formalities – liberally dosed with Jack Hammer, fresh from the canning line, we shared in tastings with some amazing guest breweries, before simply getting down and partying in front of some epic live music.

It’s been an amazing year for us, and we have loved the support of our investors and fans at each and every stage. Over the last twelve months, we have:-

-        Brewed 117,500 HL of craft beer

-        Exported our beer to fifty-five countries

-        Built the largest craft canning line in Europe

-        Opened bars in fourteen sites around the world

-        Launched Equity for Punks IV - the most audacious crowd-funding Europe has ever seen

-        Become a Living Wage employer

-        Collaborated with some of the best craft breweries on the planet

-        Filmed and aired our third series of Brew Dogs

-        Continually grown our amazing team

-        Become the UK's fastest-growing food & drink company for the fourth consecutive year

Everything we do is focused towards one specific aim – to make other people as passionate about great craft beer as we are. It all comes back to what is in your glass, bottle or can. As we grow, this dedication hasn’t wavered – not a single inch. To back this commitment, alongside becoming a Living Wage employer we have implemented an expanded QA programme in our Ellon Brewery, we now have over 150 Cicerones on our staff, and we are looking to launching an apprenticeship scheme to train the next generation of talented beermakers.

Speaking of things that we are looking to unleash on the world, the Punk AGM is always a time when we crank up the proverbial megaphone and tell our investors exactly what we are planning for the year ahead. We’re so excited about what the immediate future holds that we’ll be publishing a blog post devoted to this very subject tomorrow – so check back then for some truly enormous news (if you can’t wait until then, phone your nearest Equity Punk). Expect announcements on bars, beers and a whole lot more – did anybody hear the word gin? At all?

If you couldn’t make it up to Aberdeen for this year’s AGM, aside from the announcements, here’s a round-up of the amazing guest breweries, food and music that you missed. #PunkAGM 2016 will be bigger, better and with more incredible beer than ever – and we'll be inviting our Equity Punk investors to come and join us then for the AGM every other company (and set of shareholders) wishes they could stage. Until next year!

“Watching the presentation out there, it’s super cool to have the same ideals. I don’t think BrewDog are afraid to blaze new territory and at Ballast Point since the very early days, we haven’t either.”

- Chris Marin, Ballast Point

“Jack Hammer in cans tastes every bit as amazing as I knew it would!”

- Kirsty, Equity for Punks Investor

“Who’s happy to be alive?”

- Logan Plant, Beavertown

“The beers coming up sound incredible. I don’t know, it seems each time I think ‘oh, this is the best beer I’ve ever tasted’ along comes another one!”

- Graeme, Equity for Punks Investor

“Thanks for believing in us, thanks for being an equity punk, and’s let’s go 2015.”

- James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog

Best AGM to date. more space, more people, more bars. Could have done with more"Born to Die" as the bars soon ran out of it once the word spread how awesome it was. Should be a headliner. Plenty other amazing beers to fill the void though.Well run and organised crew kept the beer flowing and queues were almost non existent, except for the ones for food. Which did not affect my experience as I ate before hand and was able to concentrate on all the finer points of this thing I am proud to be a part of. Roll on AGM 2016 !

What a fantastic day !
Always good to have a chat with James and Martin, when they are not too busy.
Great to meet even more of the Brewdog family, and to meet friends/Brewdog family I've met before. (Thanks for the beer, Kerry.)
Another highlight was Franz and John Allen introducing me to Yuseff and Chris (Hanson) from Ballast Point, and then taking us on a pub crawl round Aberdeen on Friday night !!

Thanks to all involved for making it such an awesome event !
Bring it on next year !!

What a great day :-) Had such fun.
Spoke with James briefly, he said that Southampton had a new location for a bar - do you know when it will be announced?
BeerDude 09.06.2015 @ 12:50pm
Massive improvement queue-wise on last year, same again next time please!
Only queues were for food (burritos & BBQ), sort that out and you're golden ;)
Cheers, and good work by the whole team over the course of the day!

Agree with Viper, becoming a Living wage employer is something to be proud of and next year going for the IiP standard will commit you to treating your people well. Fantastic to see a successful business with ethical values. Well done boyd

Excellent AGM, what an improvement from last year. Cheers for the can of
Jackhammer. See you next year guys

Had a fantastic day. Fell slightly short on pacing myself through the whole night, so missed the last hour. I blame that on the amazing Barley Wine from Mikkeller which Bowman and John guided us through so expertly.

Idlewild brought back some 90s memories.

The referral campaign has began, so hopefully I can bring a few more friends up next time from Hastings.

Had a blast, the queues of 2014 are but a distant memory. A massive pat on the back for the guys and gals that organised things so well.

Obviously it's early days, but I'm sure others are wondering the same. 6,000 seemed about the limit to what the AECC can realistically handle to me. With around 25,000 shareholders now, and more to come, what's the likelihood that a new venue will be required next year?
Philip 08.06.2015 @ 2:01pm
Aberdeen broke me. Fantastic beer (Beavertown's voodoo and born to die both standouts).

Have you got any of the staff t shirts left? Liked the annual general mayhem on the back.

Viper 999 - Thanks, it was great to hear the spontaneous cheer when that was announced

Ailsa - Thanks for the feedback! We'll start planning for 2016 soon - I don't know what free beer would do for the crowds, though ;)

Daryn - Watch this space! If you have any recommendations, let us know though
Mona 08.06.2015 @ 1:19pm
Fantastic, ill be back NeXT year!
Daryn 08.06.2015 @ 1:00pm

Cracking day

I had a great 4th AGM, the atmosphere never fails to disappoint and the increase in bars and floor space was a winner. Only thing I had to queue for was a burrito! I thought it'd be my last, I hate crowds and it's just getting so huge, and I miss the personal feel of past years. This is the first time I've not had a chance to chat to James for instance, but let's face it, I'll keep going because I'm proud to be part of it.

Next year? I'd like to switch things around. I think beer and investor things should be free, especially for those of us who got in on the act early. Make the music, at least past a point, something you pay for, and actually getting to see your investment at the brewery a free activity.

I would totally pay for a tour though if it involved private hire buses going from the bar to the brewery, having fallen prey to the X61 we missed our tour and couldn't stick around for a later one as we had to get back to Aberdeen for bus to Edinburgh. I miss the halcyon days of an organised tour leaving from Aberdeen, James pouring a taster straight from the tank, those things,..

BrewDog Rich 08.06.2015 @ 12:45pm
MichaelK - It was a big 9% stout, hopped with Bramling Cross and Chinook. Look out for it soon!
Nick 08.06.2015 @ 12:43pm
Almost caught that Jackhammer ;)
MichaelK 08.06.2015 @ 12:42pm
What beer went on the pilot kit?
Reece 08.06.2015 @ 12:41pm
