THREE BEER THURSDAY!

THREE BEER THURSDAY!

A long time ago, the Three Wise Men rocked up to a manger just after (what became) Christmas each bearing a gift. In a rather neat coincidence this week we are bringing that spirit to life once again with a tempting trio of our own! We’ve been working flat out to get even more amazing beer into your hands than ever, and we have the small batch releases to prove it. So put down that pint of myrrh and treat yourself to these three wise releases…

…starting with a truly epic draft collaboration.

Twin Atlantic Pale Ale

Launching at 6pm 15th December on draft across our UK Bars

We kick things off in legendary style by partnering with one of our favourite bands – Twin Atlantic. These guys regularly rip up the stage headlining our #PunkAGM so a couple of months ago we turned the tables and invited them to Ellon to brew a beer. The result is an awesome 4.9% pineapple and mango American Pale Ale, loaded with Equinox and Cascade hops for a continued blast of tropical fruit and citrus. Draft-only, this beer will be pouring from our UK Bars from tonight!

We caught up with bass player Ross to get his lowdown on the beer…

“Some of us have been making our own beers on and off for years and when we played the BrewDog AGM one of the first things we jokingly said was that we should make a beer together. What could be more Scottish than BrewDog and Twin Atlantic doing a collaboration? Why don't we throw in the rumoured secret ingredient of Irn Bru, the fruit that nearly bankrupted our country 300 years ago - pineapple? Let's make pineapple great again.”

Self Assembly Pope

Also launching today is the first of two special small-batch canned releases – and still riffing on the Wise Men metaphor it combines three ingredients in perfect harmony. Self Assembly Pope is a redolently smooth 7.4% Coconut, Cacao and Vanilla Porter that balances these decadent flavours from start to finish. Single-hopped with Galena this beer is cast in a cloak designed by Florian Schommer that we have converted into some epic merch – a cool t-shirt, full-size wall print, and sticker set to assemble at home. Or you can pick up our Combo Case!

As with all dark beers, Self Assembly Pope maintains its equilibrium thanks to the malt bill, and generous additions of Dark Roasted Crystal and Chocolate Malts lend the backbone, whilst a touch of wheat gives body and creaminess to support the vanilla and rich cocoa flavours. This is very much a beer to nurse through the long drizzly evenings on the run-up to Christmas – our amazing brewing team have brought together the perfect fireside warmer!

Rye Hammer

Good things come in threes, and the final part of our new trio of beers is a fitting conclusion to our Hammer Heads series. Since its debut in March, these extra-dimensional tweaks on our ruthless IPA Jack Hammer have let everyone see the beer in a new light – from Monk Hammer to Black Hammer through to the most recent iteration, Chili Hammer. Live now in our online shop is the endgame – a perfect twist for winter – Rye Hammer.

At 7.2% the beer carries all of the body of its progenitor yet the addition of rye launches it into an entirely new direction. Spicy, peppery and dry the extra grain adds a layer of depth when combined with the intense fusillade of citrus and resin from the payload of Centennial, Columbus, Amarillo, Citra and Simcoe. It at once supports Rye Hammer with that extra dryness, whilst revelling in a contrast to the hops. Rye Hammer is a fitting farewell to our Hammer Heads!

Aside from being available now in our online shop, both of these small-batch beers will be joining Twin Atlantic Pale Ale on the taps of our UK bars from 6pm this Thursday, 15th December! Head on down to your nearest BrewDog Bar – particularly if it’s the recently-opened BrewDog Homerton or BrewDog York – and let us know which of the three you prefer, and why! Leave us your tasting notes below…
